Hertha suspended Kalou for not complying with the rules in the fight against coronavirus

German first-team footballers have already begun preparations for the sequel, and Salomon Kalou shared a post-workout video with his fans on Facebook. However, he and his teammates did not follow the rules applicable to the pandemic of the new coronavirus, so his Hertha Berlin had already suspended him. Kalou has already apologized.

In a video broadcast live via the Facebook platform, Kalou filmed blatant violations of the hygiene rules applicable to football players during the Corona crisis, according to German news agency dpa. Thus, the Côte d’Ivoire football player did not follow the rules regarding distance between two people and greeted his teammates with a handshake. He even went with the camera to a room where a teammate was just passing the test for a new coronavirus.

“With video from the locker room, Salomon Kalou violated the basic rules of the team and showed behavior that is in no way appropriate for the current situation, nor is it in accordance with the rules of conduct at the club,” the Berlin club wrote in a press release. “With this recording, Salomon Kalou gave the impression that the Herte football players did not take seriously the distance and hygiene recommendations presented by health authorities. Herta would like to point out that it was a mistake of one football player,” the club said. They added that the rules on distance and hygiene should be even stricter.

Kalou has already apologized for his behavior and removed the video. “I apologize for giving the impression that I am not taking coronavirus seriously. I did not think very well and was pleased that all our tests were negative,” said the 34-year-old. The Bundesliga also reacted violently to the recording, saying that such behavior was unacceptable and would not be tolerated.
